We’ve had a pretty incredible summer so far don’t you think? Of course the children haven’t broken up from school yet so no doubt we’ll be hit by a six week British monsoon on the 21st July but so far…… I’m not complaining.
I can’t actually recall lazing by a pool in the blazing hot sunshine well….. ever in this country. Sadly I don’t have a pool (sob) and I don’t really walk in circles of anyone else who does (if you’ve got one and you want to be mates… message me, yeah?) My summer days are more about paddling pools filled with water that, well let’s be honest, should probably have been changed yesterday. So when the opportunity came up to spend the afternoon at C-Side, the spa attached to the stunning Cotswold hotel Cowley Manor, came up before a big event I was hosting, it would have been rude to refuse. Of course when I said yes I had no idea or expectation that it would be a 27 degree scorcher! Total brucey bonus!
Before we hit the spa, Cara (my blogger and event partner in crime) and I hit the restaurant in the main hotel for a spot of lunch. It was already too hot to enjoy the terrace so we opted for some welcome shade in the very funky MALT restaurant. Cara grazed at a pizza and I enjoyed a chicken Caesar salad and glass of rosé (well why not?) Desperate to hit that pool we raced across to the spa as soon as our delicious meals were finished.
We grabbed a couple of sun beds and settled in. I dipped, Cara lounged glamorously poolside (that’s her thing) and all was right with the world.
C-Side has two incredible pools, one indoor, one outdoor, a gym, steam room and sauna and a serious selection of incredible treatments. Children are allowed in C-Side from 8am to 11am and 3.30pm to 5pm each day too if you wanted to make your visit a family affair.
I enjoyed a Green and Spring back massage. The experience was incredible, I chose my music playlist and just relaxed in the hands of one of Cowley’s professional team of therapists.
Treatments done it was time to enjoy a drink from the poolside bar (yep… you did read that correctly) before we could ignore the task at hand no longer and had to tear ourselves away from the sunbeds and get organised for our event.
Cowley is literally just up the road from Cheltenham and Cirencester (just beyond the Seven Springs roundabout so also really accessible from Gloucester) and they pride themselves on being a relaxed spa with very few rules. It’s worth giving them a call if you happen to have a few hours to yourself and fancy some last minute chill time – they offer flexible day spa packages as well as membership and I understand that they are in the process of developing some exciting new treats for mums and mums to be (which I hope to tell you more about at a later date!)
Give them a try – you won’t regret it!
Cara and I were kindly gifted this spa experience from C-Side.
