The Window Is Open

The Window Is Open

So last week was a big one! Maman Goes Pop! was great fun as always, but not all of you will know that I also launched another business that I run alongside a great friend and fellow MumBoss, Cate –  The Window Magazine!

We held a fabulous party to celebrate all of the incredible talent who have ensured that the magazine is jam packed full of wonderful features, tips, advice and support for mums and dads who are either visiting the Cotswolds or who are lucky to be parents here. We’ve covered fashion, horticulture, interiors, days out, places to eat and drink, education, food and so much more!

The magazine has been available to pre-order for some time and, bar a very ugly hiccup from Royal Mail, most of those clever pre-orderers will be able to start slowly enjoying their copy this week. As lovers of the printed word, my co-editor, Cate Hamilton and I wanted to celebrate taking a mindful moment with a hot drink or a glass of wine and re-discovering how it feels to lose yourself momentarily to an article or joyful and inspiring image.

The Window Magazine will be published every nine months and that’s because we know all too well that those moments to yourself are few and far between when you have children. The last thing we wanted to do was to create even more of a feeling of being hurried in your busy lives! The content has been designed to last through all three seasons of the publication cycle, but you will see a few subtle nods to the long dark night of winter, the new growth of spring and the light of summer.

Guests at our launch party feasted on delicious cakes from MumBoss Hetty of Hetty’s Kitchen and took away goody bags stuffed with gifts from Bodega Fashion, Neal’s Yard Remedies, The Little Soap Company  and of course a few goodies from us, one of which was a copy of the magazine itself! Printed on matte, recycled paper we are proud that no part of the design, curation or print took part outside of the Cotswolds – it’s truly a local and sustainable product. We also offered profuse thanks to all who took the time to support us, advertise with us and to contribute to the magazine (the vast majority of whom seemed to be called Kate or a variation of Kate!) over a brief speech and toasted it’s success. Particular attention was made to thank Kate Ransome who contributed most of the photography (see her offerings at Little Cheltenham), Anna Stead who contributed much of the illustrative content (Thistle Moon) and Natasha Wilmore who not only allowed us to interview her for our feature piece but also offered us design advice thoughout.

To find out what all of the fuss is about or to counteract the fast pace of modern parenthood in the digital age, we prescribe a hot cup of tea (or large glass of wine) and a copy of the magazine, which you can order directly from our website. If you simply can’t wait for the postman, you can also grab a copy from some of our stockists – we hope to see this list grow in the coming weeks and months and if you are interested in carrying the magazine at your shop or venue (it makes a fantastic bedside read for Cotswold visitors) do drop us an email at thewindowmagazine@gmail.com!

So for now, The Window is open and we can’t wait to hear what you think!
