Reading Mamas of Cheltenham

Reading Mamas of Cheltenham

This is you:

I have 3 new books downloaded to my Kindle… can’t wait to read them all on holiday!

This is also you:

I successfully wrangled my children (and my partner) on the flight/in the car/on the boat, packed and unpacked and repacked everyone, worked out logistics and meals and activities, taken thousands of cute holiday photos, and… never got the chance to power that Kindle on.

This is you:

I have a spare 20 minutes…I’m going to pop into Waterstones and browse new fiction!

This is also you:

I should pick out a new book to read to Child X at bedtime and also grab that How To on Weaning/Potty Training/Discipline/Organisation… I guess I will browse the novels another day.

This is you:

New Year’s Resolution:  I am totally going to read for 10 minutes before bed every night!

This is also you:

Love Island is on!  Baby needs to be nursed/rocked/swaddled/soothed.  Hmm, I wonder if I can get that on Amazon?  Child X is having another night terror.  I better pack lunches now so I can get to work early tomorrow.  That mountain of laundry definitely needs folding… tonight… Oh there’s the book on my night table… ew, it is really dusty… when did I last dust?   Zzzzzzzzzzzz…

If this sounds like you, well, you are just like us!  We are ladies who love to read but often get side-tracked by motherhood, work and life.  We want to join forces with some like-minded literature lovers who might find the promise of a nice glass of wine and a good book chat as that little extra incentive needed to set aside the time to read!

Our plan is to choose a book to read each month and have a meet-up at the end of the month to eat, drink and discuss.  We hope to start this September and for ease we have chosen the first book:  Becoming by Michelle Obama.

Of course, we are aiming for a lot of variety in the future and would like to rotate who selects the book each month, allowing everyone the chance to choose something they are really excited to read.

If you are interested in joining us, please contact Emily at emily.orsi@gmail.com and make the subject Reading Mamas.  Give us your name, phone number and e-mail address and we will begin organising!

Here’s to cracking open a book this autumn – and hopefully finishing it!  😊
