How many of you were glued to Glastonbury a couple of weeks ago imagining you were moshing away with the Foo Fighters or holding your lighters (or is it phones now… health and safety) in the air to Ed Sheehan. Me!! The festival season is well and truly underway and I don’t know about you but going for a whole weekend with the kids is something I dream about year after year but very rarely get around to actually doing. The idea of taking the children to Glasto actually fills me with dread. I’m not brilliant with crowds and I think as a festivals go (I’m sure there are people who will prove me wrong) this one is best left for a weekend of adult carnage.
So as a mum of three where can you head to dip your toe into a nice crystal clear body of water where you know you’ll have the facilities you need to feed, hydrate, change and keep a close eye on your little ones… well as per usual I’m hear to help and want to tell you about an up and coming weekend of great food, amazing music and a real family friendly atmosphere on bank holiday weekend that is right on our doorstep. And you know what that means…… no M5 – hoo – bloody- ray!
The Big Feastival is on from Friday the 25th to the 27th August and you can book tickets (if you’re quick) to go for the day or the whole weekend. Last year we took the whole Maman pack for the Friday and I had to be dragged away from Foxes on the main stage at 10pm with the Bébé happily snoring away in the all terrain buggy with her Papa. This year we are doing it large and are going for the whole weekend and the boys are taking friends. So that’s four teenagers…. yes four. It’ll be fine…….. (she says a silent prayer.)
The brainchild of Jamie Oliver (yes him) and Alex James (of Blur… oh how I loved Damon Alburn) The Big Feastival is now in it’s sixth year and is set to transform the Cotswolds this August Bank Holiday with its biggest and most delicious line-up yet. With incredible music, world-class chefs, award-winning street food and a packed programme of kids’ entertainment, there really is something for everyone.
From start to finish Mamans won’t want to miss a minute of The Big Feastival. Top chefs, restaurateurs and firm family favourites will be sharing pearls of culinary wisdom in the NEFF Big Kitchen including: Rick Stein and son Jack; two Michelin star chef Nathan Outlaw; celebrity television chef Cyrus Todiwala; acclaimed restaurateurs José Pizarro, Mark Hix and Robin Gill; Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown and many more. And for the little people…. NEFF Little Kitchen, led by TV favourites Tom and Henry Herbert, provides interactive cookery classes to encourage budding young chefs to try something new.
If you were in any doubt that this event is a great one for your children as well as you then they have a few more plans up your sleeve that might convince you. They can take on the Little Dudes’ Den, pop along to the Farm Park, laugh with cheeky duo Dick & Dom, delight in entertainment from children’s TV megastar Justin Fletcher and the piéce de resistance ….. the addition of chill-out area The Common Room – a paradise for teens with table tennis, air hockey and special workshops to inspire and entertain. I’ll be encouraging my tribe to take part in a Ukulele Workshop or a Laughing Yoga session – yes I will.
If you couldn’t care less about the family and are just in it for the tunes… here’s the lineup. Me? I’ll be raving with Ella Eyre and no doubt embarrassing the boys no end to Olly Murs.
But what about the lineup? Well here’s an outline… You can find out more and book your tickets here.
I’ve saved the best news until last! The amazing folks over at The Big Feastival have given me a daytime family ticket for four on Friday the 25th to give away to one of you lucky readers! From this moment onwards I’m running a competition across all of my social media channels – take a look here to find out how to enter on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. One winner will be selected (just one across all three platforms) at random on the evening of Sunday the 16th July. Good Luck and hope to see lots of you there! Let me know if you are coming and we can arrange a Maman Meet Up (with all the cider, wine, pimms, beer, squash….. delete as appropriate.)
Terms and Conditions… The winner will be posted a family day pass (four tickets) for Friday the 25th August. Tickets are not for resale. There will only be ONE winner across all three social media platforms.
