It will be three years ago next Monday that I woke up wondering what on earth I had been thinking hiring Pittville Pump Rooms and selling 70 tickets to one event I really had no idea if I could pull off.
A need to get something started, anything really as long as it meant I didn’t have to continue to balance the guilt of a busy full time job and being a Mum of three. I’ve always wanted to be really good at everything I did and trying to be a great Manager and a great Mum was taking its toll.
But somehow (mainly due to the support and trust of some incredible women I’m still lucky enough to call amazing friends) I pulled it off.
Tomorrow is my last event and this is my last blog. I can’t wait to welcome 280 of you to Cheltenham Racecourse to celebrate how we’re all just trying our best and that being an imperfect parent is what it’s all about. Keeping it real and just doing the best that we can in a world where we’re constantly hassled to strive for perfection.
It’s bittersweet. I’m sad but excited. This job has been incredible but it’s never been straight forward and though it’s given us experiences we are truly grateful for it’s also taken a lot out of me and my family. I’ve loved (almost) every minute but I’m ready to go back to a more black and white existence.
I’ve never been a good influencer and I’m not sure I want to continue to strive to become one. I built this community to celebrate women being unashamedly themselves and never judging one another, but I worry that the social media explosion has taken us back in time and when the school playground mentality of rewarding the popular girl becomes something that young people aspire to get involved with when they grow up, I think it’s time to question what we’re all trying to achieve, which is what I’ve been doing these last few months.
So thank you all for paying attention to the things I, and countless other mums and small business owners have said on this site, its social media accounts and the many physical events I’ve hosted. I owe you all a lot and I hope you all keep in touch!
If anyone is interested in following the amazing achievements of members of the Cheltenham MumBoss Club you’ll continue to find me shouting about them on what was the CheltenhamMaman social media accounts. I’ll also be putting my content creation skills to good use at my new business endeavour Content In The Cotswolds and I’d love to see you over there.
It’s been amazing ladies (and gents) and I still firmly believe there is no better place to raise a family than in our glorious town.
The site will stay live (but stagnant) until the end of 2019 so if you’ve written for it firstly a huge thanks for sharing your stories and secondly don’t wait too long to rescue your words!
Thank you for everything.
