Episode 27 – Meet Emma Richards, CheltenhamMaman Good Mum Bad Mum Podcast

Loved today’s chat with local mum of one Emma – we took a deep dive into her unique situation of being a single mum with a disability. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her late teens/early twenties Emma knew she wanted to be a mum and has never known life as an able bodied parent but it was great to take the time to try and understand her personal set of circumstances.

Emma is an inspiration. She wrote for the blog way back in 2017 but it was a privilege to meet her face to face. You can follow Emma here on Instagram or take a look at her blog about her original MS diagnosis here and her more recent blog about living locally as a Mum with MS here.

In the introduction to this podcast I tell you about The Happy Makers’ Project taking place at The Tithe Barn in Bishops Cleeve on Saturday the 30th March between 11am and 4pm. It’s principally a market full of locally produced handmade products – so expect to see such local talent as Jenni from Willowberry skincare and beautiful handmade children’s clothes from local brands such as Daphne and Margot and Bonnie Pop Makes – plus there will be art, handmade soap, embroidery and masses more. It happens to be the day before mothers day so it’s a perfect opportunity to get the mums in your life a unique gift.

As well as shopping there will be locally produced and made food on offer through out the day – Poco Culine will be serving up nutritionally balanced Easter influenced street food plates and Hettys Kitchen and The Bakers Table will be offering sweet treats to eat on site or take away.

Finally there are a selection of creative workshops on offer to give the option of making a day of it and taking some time out of your busy weekend just for you/. Choose from a bullet journalling workshop to help you get your mind and busy life in order whilst also enjoying some therapeutic doodling and creativity or let Jen from The Colour Club teach you a few techniques to make some brilliant accessories for the children –  think superhero capes and much much more. Or opt for Kelly from the Bees Knees workshop Undone which will guide you through a creative process of releasing negativity from your life and allowing you to focus on all that is good and positive.

You can follow what’s going on at The Happy Makers’ Project over at their Facebook page.

Enjoy today’s episode and see you next week!
