Our town is on the up. Like seriously moving at a rate of knots in the direction of being a very real contender as a truly perfect place to really have it all. Family, work, fun, you name it we’ve got it and those of us that live here can relax safe in the knowledge that there is a wealth of activities, events and service providers out there who are making it their mission to enrich our lives.
The problem is keeping up with it all! We don’t know what we don’t know and sometimes I kick myself when I find out that I’ve missed an amazing event or a festival has flown by without me ever realising it was on. Sometimes the stars even align to give the family and I a rare free day and we are at a loss as to where to spend it.
Thankfully one of our very own MumBosses has come up with a solution, and for those of you not yet aware of Cheltenham Rocks it’s really time you discovered it so let me give you a helping hand.
Cheltenham Rocks is a website designed by local Mum of two Laura Smith. After becoming a parent in 2014 she found it tricky to find things to do locally with children. Information on family events, groups, fetes, fairs and local attractions were about but with no single place to view everything available on a given day. With a background in the world of online, she set about trying to create a central hub of things to do for families in Cheltenham, and Cheltenham Rocks was born in 2016.
The site is easy to use, aesthetically pleasing and the sections can be filtered around day, cost and target age so you can enter the date when you have some free time and a whole list of everything you might be interested in in Cheltenham will pop up on the screen ready to wet your appetite for enjoying your down time. Or if you just want to get some activities in the diary you can scroll through the site to see what’s coming up in our area.
The options on the site are split into events, groups & attractions and day trips and there are quick links to activity groupings from the home page with seasonal things like ‘Easter Fun’ (linking to 25+ events on over Easter) or helpful groupings like ‘Free’ (linking to everything that’s free to do) letting you find things tailored to your family quickly and easily.
There’s a blog area which gives loads of handy tips on making the most of what Cheltenham has to offer to families plus regular What’s On guide articles during holidays. Launching soon will be a party directory to help you organise your next family party, with searchable venues, entertainers, equipment and attractions providing party packages.
The concept is so simple but it’s exactly what our bustling town has been missing and not only will I be ensuring all of CheltenhamMaman’s events are featured on the site but I’ve also been making full use of it to snap up tickets to some great shows for the older Enfants, classes for the Bébé and I’ve just spotted a Vintage Fair next weekend that looks right up my street for a bit of grown up time out.
Our MumBoss community is creating some really exciting business and I’m all over shouting to the rooftops about this great resource Laura has created, If you’re a Mum or Dad and you’ve not checked it out yet do go and take a look. If you are looking to promote your event I’d also make sure you get in touch with Laura to get it featured on the site.
You can visit Cheltenham Rocks here. You can also follow them on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. Do let us know about any amazing hidden gems you find on the site that you would otherwise have been oblivious to!
