Hi, I’m Louisa and 6 years ago I made the decision to leave my office job and become a full time mum. Along came Maverick. Two and half years later I had Sylvi. Both my kids are amazing and I wouldn’t change them for the world but I did feel that I lost my identity and was only seen by some as a mum and nothing else, almost as if I’d lost the spark I used to have and Louisa had vanished.
Once Maverick started school I really felt like I needed to do something for myself, my self-esteem was low, my circle of friends was rapidly decreasing, it was definitely time to make a change. A friend saw a post on Facebook about a ((BOUNCE)) class and convinced me this would be a good idea – it would get us out of the house for an hour and we could get fit together.
We went to our first class, sounds daft but I was so nervous; was I going to fall off the trampoline or worse, was I going to pee myself?!! I’m very glad to say that neither happened and I absolutely loved every sweaty minute of it. The ((BOUNCE)) moto is to be “Fun, Friendly and Fierce” and it really is just that. There is no gym-bunny mentality, every size, shape, age and gender is welcome and the people you meet become your #bouncearmy.
After 3 classes I was rapidly becoming a ((BOUNCE)) addict. The feeling I got from class was amazing and other attendees also had the biggest smiles on their faces throughout class – this is what’s now known as the ((BOUNCE)) Buzz!!! I quickly realized that I wanted to give something back, I wanted to make people feel this fantastic about exercising so I signed up to become an instructor.
From someone who was a stop at home mum with not a lot of confidence the thought of standing at the front of a class and calling tracks was daunting but ((BOUNCE)) was already giving me so much confidence I knew I could do it with a bit of hard work, perseverance and a lot of sweat.
Teaching a class of likeminded people all with different goals and at different levels of fitness is the BEST thing I’ve ever experienced., The pure enthusiasm they have for their workout is incredible and knowing it’s me helping them achieve what they want gives me the biggest high.
Being such a massive ((BOUNCE)) enthusiast now, I decided to take the ultimate plunge and set up my own franchise, ((BOUNCE)) HATHERLEY! I wanted classes to be more accessible and at varied times, with free parking for everyone; so more people can get to experience this amazing workout. I really want everyone to know what ((BOUNCE)) can do for them and how great it can make them feel.
If someone had told me 9 months ago I would be doing this, that I would have my own business, that I’d become a Mum Boss, I would have thought they were crazy but ((BOUNCE)) really can change your life.
((BOUNCE)) Hatherley launched on the 16th September, we filled all 60 spaces across the 3 classes with amazing people and the atmosphere was electric. Their enthusiasm was fantastic and I was so immensely proud I could have burst. I am so excited for it’s future!
So what is a ((BOUNCE)) class all about?
As I mentioned the motto is “Fun, Friendly and Fierce” so you’ll have such a laugh and feel so welcome, but prepare to work hard too. For the first 40 minutes its cardio, and we do toning for the last 20 minutes. There’s always someone new to class, so don’t worry about feeling self-conscious – you’ll see everyone bouncing at their own pace.
It usually takes 2-3 sessions to get used to all the bouncing and recognise the moves so stick with it. You can go for the easier options initially, bop along lightly and work up to the more strenuous moves. The point is that you can choose your own level and enjoy it. That said, I will push you so you achieve the results you want but you can rest at any point, we will usually break for a quick drink every 3 to 4 tracks. ((BOUNCE)) has been designed specifically to run in intervals of 10 minute cardio sets for a great H.I.I.T workout. Remember it’s YOUR class so go at YOUR pace, you don’t have to be good at it, just do it!
Why is ((BOUNCE)) different?
The difference between a ((BOUNCE)) class and any other floor based workouts is we do it on a trampoline and the whole point of jumping on a trampoline is to have fun! There’s oodles of scientific research into the benefits, but most notably NASA calls it “the most efficient exercise yet devised by man” due to the extra gravitational force that the trampoline adds. Basically its 3 times more effective than other floor workouts plus we have the best tunes and heart pumping choreography!
I know it can be scary starting something new, especially getting on a trampoline for the first time in years. You might be worried about your fitness levels, wobbly bits, not knowing anyone or getting the moves wrong but you have to start somewhere, don’t let being a beginner stop you. I was exactly the same.
